1999 J35 North American Campionships

Well this years big event is over. With 24 J35's registered and 23 competingAunt Jean wound up third overall in light and shifty racing.  As predicted the boys from up north showed us how to go sailing as Split Decision and Zoro came on strong to get first and second respectively.  Hale Walcoff and Mark Hillman kept the Split team headed the right way the entire regatta and evan though Aunt Jean led after the first three races they sailed consistantly in the top three where Aunt Jean was in the top five...not enough to hold on.  Meanwhile Zoro, who had a bad first day, sailed an excellant second and third day to edge us out of second.   The demise of Aunt Jean started when we thought there was a Z flag flying for all starts, making me quite gunshy at the starts.  We realized there wasn't a Z up after the fourth race...oops.  Our other problem was we really like heavy air and the regatta was a light air affair after the first day...such is war. Here are some pictures of the event.
